What’s Left

I’m Virginia Chamlee, a People magazine writer and the author of the best-selling book, Big Thrift Energy. I have a lifelong passion for sourcing vintage (both fashion and interior pieces) and want to teach others how to find incredible things and style them, too. I’m also an artist who paints a lot of words — which is a big theme around here, if you haven’t noticed.

This newsletter is a digital scrapbook of sorts for all the things I love: fashion, interiors, music, movies, books — plus tips on how to put things together (like how to style a console, or how to wear a vintage jacket). Newsletters come out once per week, on Sundays, and on the first Sunday of the month, I offer a special, paid version — all about specific tips on thrifting (including the best places to shop around the country), city guides, and tips on how to navigate outlet shops and find designer pieces in unlikely places. Plus, sometimes I open up about career and business advice.

A paid subscription gives you full access to past issues! Here are a few worth checking out:

  1. On kitchens and gaining the confidence to do my own thing, design-wise.

  2. What I packed and wore to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

  3. The best ways to display art.

  4. What the mystery and mystique of a weird Georgia monument tells us about life.

  5. How I grocery shop: tips & tricks gleaned from a lifetime of preparing for Supermarket Sweep.
