Somehow, without my even realizing it, this little newsletter turned two years old! I really started it as a way to update people on my first book tour and, since then, I’ve been to more than a dozen states talking about antiques, thrifting, and Big Thrift Energy. And I have no plans to slow down. In fact, maybe I’ll do this whole thing all over again….
I digress. I have some fun issues in the works (including break-outs with tastemakers about their favorite thrift finds and some fun audio content!) but for this week, I felt like keeping it simple.
Here, I’ve offered a look back at some of my favorite issues from the past two years, along with a round-up of some things I’m loving at the moment.
From the archives, some of my favorite back issues of What’s Left:
My thrifting/antiquing guides to Jacksonville (parts one and two), Atlanta, Palm Coast, Amelia Island, Greensboro.
The story behind my first kitchen, the unveiling of my second kitchen in Architectural Digest, and how spite fuels me.
My favorite eBay finds and what I’m always on the hunt for.
My favorite ghost story and my favorite healthy candy bar recipe.
Lots of styling guides, from coffee tables to console tables to vintage t-shirts and jackets.
I have spoken about my love for Bordallo Pinheiro, the company that really made cabbageware what it is today, in the past. But the brand is still around and they have a new collab with iconic supermodel Cláudia Schiffer. How stunning are these butterfly-shaped dessert plates?
A vintage-looking linen cover up in the perfect shades of pink. Throw it on over a bikini for day, loosely belt it for night.
Obsessed with these diminutive, sculptural mirrors. Under $200, hand-cast and hand-painted.
This antique faux tortoiseshell necklace is chunky and fun but with the addition of a locket — so it marries old and new and allows you to wear a pic of your pet, your partner, or whatever makes you happy.
These tongue-in-cheek notecards (designed by former Town & Country editor Marcie Pantzer) would make a great little hostess gift, but they’re also fabulous to have on hand for thank you notes and the like.
A perfume with topknots of Mexican black cherry and pink pepper. Plus, how chic is that bottle with the heavy font?
Rapid Fire
What I’m watching: Dancing for the Devil, the Netflix docuseries about the TikTok dancing cult, was fascinating. Sign me up for anything cult-related. Unless, of course, it’s an actual cult.
A recent purchase: This crochet dress is perfection and I mean it. It came in a few days after I ordered it and the fit is great (I took a small and it isn’t snug at all). It looks great worn with flat gladiator sandals (I have these and adore them) but you could do a heel, too. I’m most looking forward to throwing it over my bathing suit and wearing it to the pool and beach. The downside: there are only a few sizes left in each, and they don’t typically reintroduce their styles so it’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of purchase.
Something I ate (and loved): I made this granola with chunks of quinoa, chia seeds, nuts and dark chocolate and ate it with chia pudding and bananas. Heaven.
And I’ll leave you with this…
