What a remarkable story! I wonder how the soldier who stole it felt having that in his home and if it ever transferred hands before it was donated. I feel like my conscience would have been so guilty that I would have confessed in my will 👀 How wild that it was put out on the floor, passed over by other shoppers, and purchased by someone who invested so many resources to make it right.
There are many remarkable parts to the story and I think the same about the soldier. There’s another fun stolen art story I need to share in another newsletter.
Amazing story! Thanks for sharing. You also nailed it: the thrill and anticipation of thrifting is wondering about its prior life and giving it a new life (loving home).
No f-ing way! I lived in Frankfurt for the past 2 years and visited the Pompejanum in Asschaffenburg - it is a quite close to Frankfurt. The pompejanum is a pretty cool place and the city is very cute too. I have seen this bust but was not aware of the backstory. Amazing!!! What a great story
What a fantastic story! Thank you!💕
Thanks for reading!

Is it about the couple in New Mexico? That is a wild story!
Yes!! Should be a movie
I would love a book, series of articles on finding lost treasures. Highly interesting.
I wrote one! It’s called Big Thrift Energy: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/696602/big-thrift-energy-by-virginia-chamlee/
Extraordinary! I hung on every word!!
