The September Edit: What I’m Thrifting, Watching, and Bookmarking Lately
Inside a fashion designer's stunning home — plus, some recent finds
When I was a magazine editor, I often shared monthly roundups of my favorite finds. With that in mind, I’m using this space to highlight everything I’m into at the moment — the shows I’m bingeing, the trends I want to try, etc. Read it, save it, share it….more to come.

A THRIFTED LACE JACKET. I thrifted this vintage lace jacket for $10 and I’ve been wearing it with everything — slipped over a white bikini to the beach, with a white tank and jean shorts…. there is always a place for a slutty little jacket. Thrift them when you can.
BIG DEEP BOWLS. A wide, deep bowl will always have a home with me. I use two separate bowls on my kitchen island: one for fruits like bananas (with potatoes and avocado piled under) and a smaller one, for alliums (stinky stuff — onions, garlic, etc.) I thrifted the above at a Goodwill for $3.99. Chipped but beautiful.
VESSELS FOR THE COFFEE TABLE. Also a fan of bowls or plates or ashtrays for the coffee table. That fun polka-dotted number above is courtesy of Edie Parker and on sale for $100. I use it to hold remotes, matchbooks I pick up at restaurants, palo santo sticks, hair ties, etc.

THE HOME THAT HAS ME RETHINKING EVERYTHING. Architectural Digest’s feature of designer Yael Aflalo’s home makes me want to start over and invest in oak parquet flooring and deep, rich, velvet furniture. I think this space is so stunning and romantic (so much vintage here, too!)

HIGH-TECH SKINCARE. I’m very into high-tech skincare (read: devices, powerhouse ingredients) and always have been. I want stuff that works. And frankly, I think I am really skilled at sussing out what works — my skin looks better at age 40 than it did at age 20 (and I have zero filler in my face, other than my lips, FYI). Here’s what I’m doing:
I recently did one round of Morpheus8 on my jawline and eyelids (I want an upper blepheroplasty but am holding off for now) and C02 laser on my cheeks. I’ll get three rounds ultimately, so I’ll share more results later.
But for every day, I use this cleanser (or this one if I’m having a breakout), this magic, very high-tech potion as a serum (AM and PM), and follow it up with a tinted moisturizer for day and this high-tech growth factor cream for night. I know, the cream and serum are wildly expensive. This is a much more affordable option that’s also very results-driven.
I also use this red light mask just about every day (my other one went kaput recently after about two years, RIP), and use this nanocurrent device to de-puff.
Supplement-wise, my doctor recommended I take Omega-3s for my cholesterol, but I’ve found that this one helps tremendously with my skin and hair health, too!
THE JEWELRY I’M WEARING TO ADD SPARKLE TO THE EVERYDAY. I love a little nod to the subversive and this silver necklace fits the bill (it’s delicate but if you look closely, you can see it looks like barbed wire). It’s a good piece for daily wear but for something more fun, I’ve been reaching for this necklace, which is essentially a rope woven with charms for that whole sexy-beachy-effortless vibe.
MY RUN CLUB SHIRT (THAT DIDN’T REQUIRE JOINING A RUN CLUB). This is a men’s shirt but I loved the illustration so much, I had to get it. I took a small and it’s oversized but fun to wear with little boxer shorts or more tailored pants.

CLOGS & FLATS. I’m a clog bitch. I wear my Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstocks to death and recently added these velvet, Cheetah-print Rothy’s to the mix. These are so comfortable and they look more chic, IMO, when you wear them with an anklet. I’ve also been wearing these leopard-print flats a lot and they are probably as comfortable as my Nikes. Flats can feel very grandmotherly to me so I try to sex them up — either with jewelry, by wearing them in an unexpected way (like with cargos or barrel-legged jeans), or by getting them in an animal print.

CRIME SHOWS. I recently binged the entirety of the Netflix show Untamed in about a week. It was easy and not super high-brow… below a True Detective, but above a Law & Order, if that makes sense. It’s about a federal agent (played by Eric Bana) investigating a woman’s death in Yosemite National Park. I also recently began Long Bright River with Amanda Seyfried. She plays a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood plagued by the opioid crisis and begins investigating a series of murders in her district.

ONE OF THE BEST AUCTIONS I’VE EVER SEEN. Sotheby’s is auctioning the personal collection of socialite Pauline Karpides, who has an intense and incredible love for surrealist art. If money were no object … well, I’d get everything but I have a very specific fondness for the vintage YSL posters, the Lalanne sardine cushion, and this Milena Muzquiz ceramic art piece.
What are you watching/buying/listening to lately? Would love to get some recs!
Love the leopard clogs!
I strongly believe you can never have too many little bowls or boxes for matches, remotes, palo santo, etc. That lace jacket is 🤌🏻
