Hey! I didn’t send out a newsletter on Sunday because, well, I was on vacation with my best friend in Tampa (btw, go stay at The Edition, it’s incredible). I have been absolutely swamped with life lately and traveling a little bit, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging — so I thought I’d share a quick-and-dirty letter focused on the products getting me through airports and hotels lately.
These are all items I actually use and love and that I feel have made a real difference.
The newsletter for paid subscribers comes out Sunday and it’ll be a part two of my Where to Thrift in Jacksonville guide, so get ready.
PS. If you’re in Minneapolis, I’ll be appearing at the Minneapolis Home & Remodeling Show this weekend. I’ve never been to the Twin Cities! Do you have recs for places to eat/thrift/shop? Send them my way, if so!
I have spoken about this serum at length on Instagram. It’s a very impressive (and much more affordable) alternative to the cult-classic SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. I’ve used the SkinCeuticals product for years and now that I have this one, I will never look back. Every morning, I wash, tone, and apply this while my skin is still slightly damp. It really brightens your skin (I have a lot of natural redness and tend to get freckles pretty easily but this keeps everything nice and even).
If I have an event or a television appearance, I apply this serum next. It’s very thick and it binds to whatever you layer on top so it reaaalllyyy plumps you up.
Next step is this Plush Cream moisturizer which, as its name implies, is truly plush. It sinks into skin but doesn’t dry tacky, so it’s ideal for beneath makeup.
This heavyweight moisturizer is a new product and it’s incredible. I find it a bit too thick for under makeup, so I slather it on at night and find that it’s still coating my face when I wake up in the morning. This is a great airplane product. Just pat it in before you take off and you’ll be glowing by wheels-down.
I have pretty dry, brittle hair, and product tends to accumulate on my scalp, so I love a good scalp scrub. This one comes in a tube so it’s easier to use than the kinds that come in a jar (and get under your fingernails, etc.) Also travels well.
This hair mask is a great once-per-week tool to nourish your strands. I find that if I do a hair mask, my hair is much less dry and brittle for days after.
The Crown Affair’s dry shampoo is very unlike other products, in that it comes in a powder and you apply it with a little brush. It’s kind of a fun process and the scent is phenomenal.
And I can’t go without mentioning their leave-in conditioner, which I use almost every time I wash my hair. I just apply a little to wet hair before I brush it out.
and I’ll leave you with this…
