In 2025, Beige is being put back on the back shelf (I hope!)

Ugh, I have been complaining about beige for years. it’s such a sad nothing of a color.

Virginia, thank you for this very interesting article about the algorithm flattening out our tastes and designs. It just reinforces to me that my own Maximalism, me doing me is the way to go. 💕 my home is full of things that I’ve collected over the years, bright colors, and all of the things on my walls are real art done by real people.

You get me!! I think beige as a color is…fine. But this flattened out, easy-to-digest color palette is just boring me to tears!! So glad there’s someone else who appreciates maximalism

Great article! Even Christmas has been beiged - rooms full of beige & white stockings, glass ornaments, tree skirts, candles etc. They more like a catalogues than homes.

So true! I love the idea of using beige as a verb as I feel it conveys an idea or an action even more than just a color!

The way this has permeated nurseries and decor for young children really bums me out.

This sad beige look is so boring to me and I don't understand why folks want a home that looks exactly the same as somebody else's. What happened to self-expression? I know that in the arts, 'style' cannot be copyrighted so I'm interested in how this legal case ends.
