That bench! They are also wonderful energy supporters for long-term partnership. I have a vintage thrifter friend who has a whole swan collection. So collectible!

OMG, OMG, OMG ... you didn't hear me scream. I just thrifted swan this week--with you in my head saying, "Thrift the weird stuff." I'm in my crystal phase right now: hurricane candle holders, etched vintage martini glasses, etc. ... and I saw this heavy crystal swan "bowl," and it was signed on the bottom. And I thought, meh, I'm not a swan person, but, well, I'm going to thrift the weird thing AND I also had a feeling I would get a swan "sign" from the universe. Well, here it is.

Fantastic case for the swan motif as the ultimate thrift flex. The point about how swan pieces dont date themselves the way other animal motifs do is exactly right, they somehow transcend decor eras becasue theyve been symbols of elegance for so long. Driving four hours for a plaster swan table is the kind of commitment that seperates real thrifters from casual browsers. The heft test is genius too, that tactile weight tells you everything about whether its a keeper or just another mass-produced knockoff.

Yes to swans! There is a Nina Campbell swan lake wallpaper I desperately want to put in a half bath someday. 🦢

I’m remembering all the swan things I’ve had: a crystal dish, a blouse, a wicker planter and a brass ring holder. That first table is amazing!

Jealous about that swan table find. Estate sales and vintage shops are so fun because they are like time capsules. Next time I go, I will look for swans.
