Is it too early to talk about the holidays? I don’t think so.
Once we get over the Halloween hump, I’m all in on gingerbread, Mariah Carey and so-bad-they’re-good made-for-Netflix movies. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing my guides to excellent gifts (all of which I would be personally very happy to receive).
This week, I’ve rounded up a handful of fun, artful gifts for the food lover in your life.
World Market has a mid-century modern gingerbread house and it’s definitely the most architecturally-interesting version I’ve ever seen.
This confetti cutting board has a handle, which makes it insanely easy to scrape your scraps into the trash and to carry the board to sink for cleaning. It’s also very cute and at a great price point.
For the spice-obsessed friend in your life: the Fly By Jing shorty sauce set, which comes with three flavors in purse-friendly sizes.
Even if you can’t cook, you can open a tin of caviar (or, at least, hang this one on your tree).
I already purchased my gal Holly her advent calendar, as I remembered furiously searching for no avail last year at the end of November. Get ‘em while you can.
What I’m watching/reading/listening to and loving:
Hulu’s new doc, God Forbid, delves into the sex scandal that brought down Jerry Falwell Jr. I was already very familiar with this story, but the doc did a really good job of going into the history of evangelism and how the Falwells’ relationship with a Fontainebleau pool boy kind-of, sort-of set the wheels in motion to overturning Roe v. Wade.
Love is Blind is the best relationship reality show on television/streaming. The entire Bachelor franchise has been phoning it in for the past decade and I think the producers need to take notes. Yes, everyone is messy and the entire idea is crazy BUT I cannot look away. The characters actually talk about real-life stuff — politics, religion, finances (all topics that are seemingly off-limits in Bachelor world, so you wind up with two hours of attractive people giggling). I also love how the characters in LIB kind of evolve…so people you think are great in episode one sometimes end up being the villains.
If you’re looking for something to laugh at, though, go watch the full first season of Reboot. It’s wonderful.
Midterm elections are Tuesday. Here’s how to vote if you haven’t already.
And I’ll leave you with this….
