The Summer Edit
Beach, please.
It’s hot out. Which means all I want to do is go to the pool. Or the beach. Or, maybe the mountains (where it’s not so hot). For now, I’m just looking forward to relaxing with an easy read, gobs of sunscreen, and juicy gossip.
Speaking of which, the hot Mormon soft-swinging moms of TikTok are my latest obsession. I went from not knowing anything about any of these people to knowing their kids’ middle names after going down a two-hour rabbit hole. Inject this content directly into my veins (or into my TikTok algorithm, because it’s all I care about).
On to the good stuff. This issue is devoted to all things summer: music that’s perfect to soothe your soul while you sit pool-side; a smoothie recipe that’ll cool you down; and a handful of products just begging to come along on your next trek to the seaside.
The menswear line Aimé Leon Dore is one of my favorites and I want everything they make (for myself). This hat is kind of perfect.
Business & Pleasure knows how to do a cute beach umbrella. And matching chairs, and towels and the like. Bonus: if you go for a walk, you’ll easily be able to spot your stuff amongst the hordes of similarly-colored beach umbrellas.
I don’t know what to say about this towel except that everything made by this label (Carne Bollente) is exceptional. I want to frame it and hang it over my bed.
Mineral (i.e not chemical) sunscreen; fun, ‘80s-inspired packaging and marketing … what more could you want?
An alcohol-free, beautifully-packaged seltzer that’s begging to be Instagrammed.
Here’s my go-to summer smoothie recipe (that, incidentally, doubles as a post- or pre-workout treat). Just toss it all in a blender and go to town.
2 T. cacao nibs
1 scoop protein powder or collagen (get vanilla- or chocolate-flavored)
2 tsp. honey
1/2 C. almond milk
1T. almond butter
1 frozen banana
1 date
1 ice cube (this will make it extra creamy)
*if you’re feeling really decadent, a scoop of Coco Whip is not bad at all to put on top
