The Case For a C*nty Little Chair
One chair can still make a statement
Hi friends! This issue is about chairs, not rugs, but I wanted to highlight that Ruggable gave me a code for readers of the letter :) VIRGINIA15 gets you 15% off anything on the site (I just purchased the Fawn rug and it is so great). All my codes are here btw — there’s skincare stuff, nutrition, clothing…. go to town.
Do you guys remember when Leslie Bibb’s hairstylist (THE Chris McMillan) shared how he gave the actress her signature chopped haircut for White Lotus season 3? This was no ordinary chop — this was a “c*nty little bob,” he declared.

God I love this descriptor. Yes, it’s a bad word but isn’t it so fun to co-opt bad words and make them great? C*nty can also mean fierce, unapologetic, iconic…. all great descriptors for my latest obsesh: little random chairs that are, I am here to report, mighty c*nty.
What is a c*nty little chair, exactly? It’s one that serves no real purpose, but it does serve c*nt.

In other words: this chair is an accessory.
You don’t necessarily need to use it as seating, but obviously you can.
You can use just one chair to great measure: in the corner of a space, as a way to store magazines or books. Near a fireplace, so it takes up space (but not too much) and functions as extra seating if you really need it. On one side of a console table, to rest hats and other odds and ends.
Also: in a bathroom! People often use stools in bathrooms so they have a place to rest their towel, or their dry brush or whatever, but a chair works just as well (maybe a plastic Panton chair, so it doesn’t get water damage?)
What a great idea by a NABER DESIGN, above. A breakfast nook with the majority of the seating on one side…all balanced out by a single corner-style chair on the other!
“Chairs are uniquely the best expression of design. They encompass more of the challenges by which I live and work than any other single component of furniture.”
– Vladimir Kagan
I love the idea of utilizing just one of a particular chair in a space because you know what? You often come across just one of a chair at the thrift store. And the initial instinct is to walk away because what are you gonna do with just one chair?

All of the above chairs were spotted at thrift stores or flea markets in recent years and normally I advise people to buy things in pairs … but if it’s really spectacular, you can find a space! And as the above spaces demonstrate: one is often enough to make an impact!
PS. This little metal and raffia number is about as c*nty as it gets, isn’t she?
ODDS & ENDS
EvolveTogether is offering 20% off all sets of three products on the site which makes it a great time to stock up on my favorite non-toxic deodorant (the rose scent is incredible), hand wash, hand cream, and cleanser.
Eadem is offering limited-edition sets for up to 30% off, while they last. I shared their new lip balms (which come in flavors like buttered croissant!) recently and they are sold out in Sephora already but you can still snag the full set on Eadem’s site. I use their peel/toner three times per week and am convinced it has lessened the dark spots on both my chest and cheeks.

Thank you for this... perfect timing. I was reading that accent chairs - fun & unusual or c*nty to your point - are great sellers on Chairish and move fast, as singles. Would you agree? I was trying to wrap my head around it and what to look for. Your post defined it spectacularly.
A single chair with plenty of character is my favorite! And now that I’m over fifty I’m in my witchy era and can use “bad” words out loud to my heart’s desire!
