How I'm wearing trousers now
Is it weird to devote hours of your life thinking about pants? I do. Pants are the ultimate workhorse. You can dress them up (Throw a sheer dress over them! Add heels!) or easily down (Clogs! Flops! Boots!). They span seasons, times of day and can take an otherwise precious outfit (a tweed blazer or a floral top) into slightly subversive territory.
A girlfriend and I were talking recently about how hard it is to find a great pair of cargos (I, for one, love a good cargo) and so I decided to round up my favorite pants here, along with a little outfit inspo for how I’d style them. Behold: my favorite jeans, cargos and trousers of the moment.
Totéme knows good pants. These are so perfect when worn with a pointy-toe heel, matching blazer and gold jewelry. Add a red lip, a chic pouch and a slicked-back low bun for maximum impact.
My ideal cargo. I have purchased four pairs of R13 pants in recent years and have worn them all so many times I couldn’t even count. They fit really well, are tailored really well and wear really well (expect to own them for years to come). You could definitely dress these up, but I also love them with a simple white tee, classic bag and my favorite sneakers of the moment. Bright lips and a turquoise necklace don’t hurt, either.
Khaite’s cargo-style, wide-leg jean looks amazing when worn with a matching denim top (tucked in, for a chic take on the Canadian tuxedo). You could also wear the top open, like a jacket, over a lived-in vintage tee. Add a chic take on cowboy boots and a fun spin on a classic tote (and maybe just a swipe of Saie) and you’re golden.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it hanging on the side of the white tent at a market, I still pinch myself when I wear it.
