Round Top Recap
The best stuff I saw at the 2025 Round Top Antiques Fair
It has been such an exhausting week and it all kicked off with Round Top. I flew from Jacksonville to Austin, stayed one night in the Austin Proper and then drove to Round Top to stay at the Wander Inn for a couple nights, sign some copies of Big Thrift Energy, and enjoy the antiques fair.

For the uninitiatied, Round Top is mecca for vintage lovers. It’s also a bit like Burning Man for women, in that it’s set in a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere that fully transforms itself for this thrice-yearly show.
Round Top is very spread out, with venues cropping up down 11 miles of scenic Texas highway. Everyone has their favorites — there are the fields, where you can generally find better deals (though many of the high end vendors get here early and buy merchandise for themselves); Blue Hills, where you’ll find everything from vintage apparel and signs to furniture; The Compound, which is known for more heirloom-quality furniture; The Halles, where baby blue G-wagons pull up to get custom $1,200 hats… the list goes on.

Round Top is not exactly where you go to find deals, but where you go to find treasures. It’s incredibly well-curated (so much so that by the end of each day you feel very overwhelmed).
I so loved my time in Gypsyville, the sprawling property owned by The Junk Gypsies (sisters Amie Sikes and Jolie Sikes, of HGTV fame). There’s a fabulous store, tons of pop-up vintage vendors, and gorgeous ranch-style homes that function as bed & breakfasts. I had so much fun and strongly recommend you visit and stay at the inn when in Round Top.
Some other faves from the show….

I have always loved Murano glass but kind of fell even more in love with it at Round Top. I saw so many incredible glass light fixtures and am dying to add one to my home.

I also loved seeing Nemadji pottery (a type of unglazed, swirled art pottery from Minnesota), which I often spot at thrift stores, at the fair. It was fun because I had just seen some at the Austin Proper, designed by Kelly Wearstler.

I’m also having a moment with patterned furniture — like this beautiful upholstered chair or ceramic-topped coffee table.

I love anything sculptural — from the human-sized metal object on the left to the tentacle-like bowl in the center and the wonderful textural art piece on the right.

And lastly, I feel that trompe l’oeil wood and plaster shirts are kind of having a moment. I want one.

ODDS & ENDS
One of the things that saved me on my trip to Round Top (where it was SO HOT) was this stick of glow-inducing sunscreen, which offers SPF 40 protection and no weird white cast.
I also applied (and reapplied) this lip balm throughout. It also has SPF (45) in it and comes in a range of tinted shades.
I’m so excited for the new Wuthering Heights movie I kinda can’t stand it.

love the Propers!
