A few weeks ago, I happened upon a really fun collection at the thrift store: five 1970s Hawaiian shirts—all button-ups, and all slightly cropped. They had all clearly been donated by a single person and I couldn’t help but wonder where they had been worn in the past.
The Hawaiian shirt isn’t what I’d call timeless, exactly, but I’ve certainly seen them worn in modern ways. In fact, I think a vintage Hawaiian shirt would work really well right now, in the Summer heat.
Below, I’ve taken inspiration from the Street Style girlies to showcase a handful of outfits you could wear with your vintage Hawaiian shirt. And, of course I’ve rounded up a few vintage Hawaiian shirts available now on eBay that would be worthy additions to your closet. Remember, even a men’s size will work, as you can wear them oversized with jeans or even left unbuttoned, over a slip dress or cami.
