If you follow me on Instagram, you know I took a quick trip to New York recently, for an interview in honor of National Thrift Shop Day. I had so much fun. Not only did I get to run around 30 Rock and walk on to the late-night sets and peruse the photos and memorabilia on display, but I actually stuffed my trip full of so much other fun stuff. In fact, I think I kind of nailed the perfect weekend-trip-to-NY itinerary, if I do say so myself.
I also packed really well and as usual only brought a carry-on, which made travel a breeze.
Here’s what I packed, where I ate, and what I did over the span of four days in Manhattan.
My love for this tee knows no bounds. I have it in two colors and always pack it when I travel (doesn’t wrinkle and fits slightly oversized so it looks good dressed up or down).
I purchased these pants about a week before my trip and I am SO GLAD I did. They are perfect. I wore them literally every single day I was gone and in the plane both ways. They don’t wrinkle, feel like leggings and are cropped and slightly flared so you can wear them with sneakers, sandals, or heels (I wore them with all three).
This pouch was an impulse Amazon buy but I would absolutely purchase it again. It perfectly fits some of my longer makeup brushes and my big eyeshadow palette but it would also work really well for cords and tech. As a bonus, I think it looks really chic (it’s literally a tool pouch but looks like something you’d get from Marc Jacobs in the early 2000s) and it’s literally $11. Hard to beat that.
A splurge for sure, but these quilted Prada sandals are surprisingly comfy and even look cute worn with socks (which is how I wore them on my flight home, so I could easily breeze through security without going barefoot).
Is it cliché to wear a Yankees hat in NY? Who cares! I always wear a hat when I travel and love this one.
I’ve shared what’s in my makeup bag before but these products bear repeating: This Sisley magnifying primer is a godsend for events, on-camera stuff…any occasion in which you need to not look shiny, and you need your makeup to stick.
And on the topic of makeup, there is no better lip liner than this. Anywhere: Caffeine is the shade I use for every on-camera interview I do (and it’s also what Hailey Bieber uses and that girl knows how to wear a lip).
I bought this dress specifically for the interview, knowing that the color would be perfect for on-camera (you never want to wear a pattern, because it can warp and look really strange and you need to stay away from green, because you could blend in to a green screen!). To my delight, it actually fit perfectly. I will wear this 100 times again. Perfect for a work event or Spring wedding, too.
The Prada heels I wore with the dress seem to be no longer available anywhere (I got mine online via Nordstrom), but these are also great and probably more comfortable.
I splurged and bought this bag while at The Webster. It’s a cross-body so you can go hands-free, it’s very chic and very wearable, and the leather is incredible. I will have this for years.
An Easy, Two-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Breakfast: Bubby’s in Tribeca
Blowout: David Mallett
Shopping: The Webster (located in the same building as David Mallet, so you have to pass through anyway….) Then head to R+W Guild and BDDW, because nothing is better.
Dinner: Cafe Cluny (get the fried artichokes, the tuna burger, and the ice cream sundae)
Day 2
Breakfast: Black Seed Bagels (lox, naturally)

Coffee or cocktail break: The Hotel Chelsea
Lunch: Via Carota (The burrata. Wow. The pasta. WOW.)

A show: Shucked (this was sooooo so so funny)
and I’ll leave you with this…
