How did it get so late so soon?
August flew by in a whirlwind of travel and events for me and suddenly, it’s September and I am heading back to Florida. I am personally excited to get back in a routine. I find that the in-between-seasons moments are the perfect time for a nice transition — to set a new goal, to donate old clothes and round out your wardrobe with some new pieces, and (my favorite) to redecorate.
It’s also a good time to start getting in the seasonal mood. For me, that will likely mean getting in the kitchen to make my favorite fall treats and watching Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+.
Below, I’ve rounded up all the stuff I’ve been adding to my routine lately – plus the items I plan to add over the next few weeks.
Ready for you, September.
It’s always a good time to add some new art to your walls. As luck would have it, Artfully Walls is hosting a big promotion — 25% off sitewide with the promo code LOVEART25 until September 6th.
If you haven’t noticed, tomato is kind of the scent du jour. It’s fresh, aromatic and allows you to inhale the scent of summer for months to come. I like NETTE’s tomato-scented candle, which is the perfect thing to keep in your kitchen (or give as a gift).
A few years ago, I started using a dedicated face cloth to cleanse my face. Regular washcloths are a little harsh and can tear the skin, so I purchased a couple designed specifically for the face. They really do help and it’s a great (small) step to take when thinking about upgrading your daily routine. This one, by Resore, is hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking.
While I was lucky enough to take some OrangeTheory classes at various destinations during my recent trip, my biggest form of physical activity was walking. We spent several weeks in New Hampshire, which is home to some very strenuous hiking opportunities. I’m planning to do more walking back in Florida but, as there are no mountains to traverse, I’ll challenge myself with these Bala Bangles, which add just a little bit of weight to your ankles.
I spent a lot of times signing books in recent weeks and I am here to tell you there is a discernible difference between bad pens and good pens. Le Pens are good. Full stop. And kind of chic, as far as pens go.

WaPo’s Emily Heil wrote about how pumpkin spice won and there’s no going back now.
I could not agree more with Bloomberg’s piece on how “good taste” is taking all the fun out of luxury fashion. I am a big shopper and peruser of luxury items. I sometimes buy them for full price, and sometimes find them at thrift stores. Lately, there is very little in new designer collections that interests me. Everything is a copy of everything else and it’s made shopping less fun! Case in point: every big label — from Balenciaga, which actually collaborated with Crocs, to Gucci — has a designer version of Crocs, and they all kind of look the same? Though I do love the Bottega rubber clog.
Adding these juicy turkey-zucchini burgers to my “to-make” list.
A truck overturned and spilled thousands of gallons of Alfredo sauce on a Memphis highway (kind of sounds like a dream TBH).
Obsessed with everything going on here:
And I’ll leave you with this….
