I hit 5,000 subscribers on What’s Left today! I am so thrilled. I typically only do sales once per year, on Black Friday, but I figured, why not? So to celebrate, here’s an offer for 50% off subscriptions (that’s $2.50 per month, or just $25 per year). The offer is good today only, and the link expires tomorrow — and it’s only active for new paid subscribers, as a way to encourage those of you who have been on the fence about upping your subscription :)
I have to admit, the growth here on Substack has been fairly slow and steady for me. I’ve been here for more than three years and I publish newsletters twice a week. I am a professional writer and a best-selling author and still, I can get very caught up in the whole, “How come 25,000 people subscribe to that newsletter but not to mine?” sort of thing. I am also aware that my subject is a bit more niche! Still, I try to make this space a resource for anyone interested in interior design, fashion, and vintage shopping — and I am always open to content suggestions. Below, a look at my most-read posts ever. What might surprise you is that most of them are open to paid subscribers only, so you definitely get what you pay for!
The Most-Read Posts from the Past Three Years
Good For Her Age: I wrote about turning 40 and being a caretaker to my mom. The comments I got were so heartfelt, from so many other caretakers, that I cry every time I read them.
Finding Beauty in a Thrift Store: My love letter to thrifting (but really: to my grandmother) and a very deep dive into the tragedy that brought me here.
How I Went from $45k to a Six-Figure Income in Less Than a Year: A thorough look at how I more than tripled my income five years ago, and have continued to grow it since.
How to Thrift the Juju Vera Look: I rounded up the keywords and designers I search to shop for vintage jewelry that resembles that by the cult-followed label Juju Vera.
How to Thrift the Beata Heuman Look: A look at the materials, paint colors, and vintage items to source to get the look of the Swedish/British designer.
How to Thrift the Bode Look: Okay, you guys love the Thrift the Look posts, which is why I write them once a month.
The Best Stuff I Thrifted in 2024: Pretty straightforward, but I think the real draw here is that I also shared how much I sold many of the items I thrifted for.
Thanks for all your support. Love you guys!
